ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE HEADQUARTERS
A modern and innovative HQ for Canadian police
Bouygues Building Canada has built the new headquarters, the E division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, now housed in an ultra-modern complex in the city of Surrey. RCMP personnel were previously distributed throughout the Vancouver area at 20 different locations. The new HQ can accommodate nearly 1,500 people.
The complex is located in a natural park of more than 7.6 hectares and includes a seven-storey office building, a multi-storey car park with 1,810 spaces, a technical services building and a two-storey data center. With the aim of achieving a lasting reduction in the impact of these buildings on the environment at each stage of operations, the ambition is for this project to obtain LEED Gold certification.
The award
In November 2010, in Toronto, The Canadian Council for PPP awarded the project with the Merit for Innovation and Project Partnership. This award honours the innovative organization of the Consortium formed by Bouygues Building Canada, ETDE FM Canada and HSBC Infrastucture and of the Federal Government’s integrated project team. The project stands out for its high degree of collaboration between the public and the private partners.
