Built to inspire creativity, the sbarc building and The Translational Research Hub (TRH) at Cardiff University provides state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities to students, staff, and researchers alike.
The buildings are located on the university’s cutting edge Innovation Campus, which aims to bring together a range of disciplines to foster collaboration and ingenuity. To facilitate this engagement, the highly complex Oculus staircase located at the heart of the sbarc building and a first of its kind in the UK, seemingly travels upwards through a slanting void. The neighbouring TRH is home to two world leading scientific research establishments – the Institute for Compound Semiconductors and Cardiff Catalysis Institute – comprising cleanrooms, bespoke laboratories, and a microscopy suite
